Equality and Diversity

Nordita is committed to building a research environment shaped by openness, respect and inclusion, and strengthened by a diversity of experiences and perspectives.

An international research environment

Nordita brings together students, researchers and visitors from all around the world. We foster a culture of openness where ideas, backgrounds and experiences strengthen our community and advance discovery.

Challenges, and our commitment

We recognise that building an inclusive environment is an ongoing process. We actively address barriers to participation and work to ensure equitable opportunities for all – regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, background, sexual orientation or belief.

Nordita Day Celebrating EDI

Our commitment is reflected in everyday practices and in Nordita Day, an annual event featuring invited experts, talks and workshops on equality, diversity and inclusion. Together, these efforts help foster awareness, dialogue and a more inclusive research culture.

Meet our EDI committee

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee at Nordita works to promote an inclusive, respectful and welcoming workplace. Its purpose is to support a positive environment for everyone and to help address structural inequalities that affect the community.

The committee works with Nordita’s leadership and staff to develop practical initiatives, improve procedures for raising concerns, support best practices, and uphold a Code of Conduct that promotes a harassment-free environment.

Funding and Support

Until 2006, Nordita was funded by the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden through the Nordic Council of Ministers. Currently Nordita funding is shared between the Nordic Council of Ministers, the Swedish Research Council, the two host universities KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University, and Uppsala University.
