About
Yen Chin Ong received his PhD from National Taiwan University in 2014, and his M.Sc. as well as B.Sc. (Hons) in mathematics from National University of Singapore.
A mathematician at heart, his area of research involves the applications of differential geometry, topology, and PDEs in theories of gravity and cosmology. He is primarily interested in black hole physics, especially the properties of various types of black holes in both general relativity (GR) and modified gravity, at both classical and quantum levels. One major issue that Yen Chin has been working on lately concerns the evolution of black holes under Hawking evaporation, and the Information Loss Paradox.
He is also interested in understanding the properties of modified gravity, namely, how small modifications to GR could affect its very nice features, such as the characteristics of the wave propagation, and the well-posedness of the Cauchy problem. He has worked on teleparallel theories such as f(T) gravity, as well as massive gravity.
