About
Sami Nurmi received his PhD from University of Helsinki in 2008. After a two-year postdoc at University of Heidelberg, he joined Nordita in fall 2010. He is working on cosmology.
Recently, his main research interest has been directed towards non-Gaussianities of primordial perturbations. Along with the growing observational accuracy, the non-Gaussianities have become a very active and broad field of research. The non-Gaussian statistics is an effective discriminator between different models of inflation and it may therefore play a key role in understanding the inflationary physics. Sami has been computing theoretical predictions for various models and he is also working on formal problems related to non-linear cosmological perturbations. His most recent work concerns the scale-dependency of non-Gaussianity which provides a new way to further break the degeneracy between different models and thereby gain more information about inflationary physics.
Sami is currently collaborating with the cosmology groups at U. of Helsinki, U. of Heidelberg, U. of Bielefeld, Saga U. and ICG Portsmouth.
