Nordita Fellow
About
Oksana Manyuhina received her PhD from the Radboud University of Nijmegen in 2009 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris before coming to Nordita. Her research is in the area of soft condensed matter, in particular, she is interested in applications of differential geometry and statistical physics to describe shape transformations of self-assembled structures and instability patterns in liquid crystals.
Her activity is mainly inspired and motivated by close collaborations with experimental groups, such as High Field Magnet Laboratory in Nijmegen and "Wetting and Phase Transition" group at Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. Besides modelling soft matter systems, she finds it challenging and appealing to interpret some physical aspects of biological systems. One of her important contributions was modelling of keratocytes (fish cell) motility by complex analysis methods within theory of active gels.
