About

Jörn Warnecke received his master degree in 2009 from the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität in Freiburg. His thesis was about photospheric motions driving magnetic field structures in the solar corona, supervised by Hardi Peter at the Kiepenheuer-Institute for Solar Physics in Freiburg. His area of interest is in solar physics, astrophysics, cosmology and astrobiology.

Jörn started his PhD studies in August 2009 at Nordita and the Astronomy Department at Stockholm University under the supervision of Axel Brandenburg. As a member of the ERC project of Astrophysical Dynamos, his main research concerns the physics of the Sun, with a focus on dynamo theory. For his Licentiate thesis he has been working on the emergence of magnetic flux and coronal mass ejections driven by dynamo-generated fields under the solar surface. In May 2011 he is expected to receive his Licentiate degree and will then continue working on his PhD project.
