Fernanda Pinheiro is a PhD student affiliated with Stockholm University, working under joint supervision of Jani-Petri Martikainen (Nordita) and Jonas Larson (Stockholm University). She joined Stockholm University and Nordita in June 2010 and since then is pursuing her PhD studies in the physics of cold bosons in optical lattices. Currently she investigates the role of excited bands in the physics of these systems.

She obtained her master degree in 2010 from the University of Sã Paulo (Brazil), where she also studied the properties of many-body bosonic systems. Her main physical interests also include the study of entangled systems and understanding of the role played by correlations in many-body quantum systems.
