At the core of theoretical physics is educating and supervising young scientists.
Nordita is a bastion of research education in theoretical physics. It acheives this by delivering and helping to deliver graduate courses, as well as organizing and running schools for students and early-stage researchers on selected topics of theoretical physics.
Due to the geographic spread of Nordic universities, very few, if any, have the critical mass to maintain and run a PhD curriculum in theoretical physics. To address this weakness, Nordita, in collaboration with professors and teachers at Nordic universities, aims to establish a Nordic curriculum in theoretical physics. The model involves defining and developing a select set of courses that can be delivered and examined sustainably over the years. These courses will be available in a hybrid format, offering both on-site and remote teaching.
Through the Nordic curriculum, young aspiring scientists will receive excellent training in the main topics of theoretical physics and establish a broad network of their peers. Additionally, collaborating teachers will reinvigorate and strengthen the Nordic network of theoretical physicists.
