Scope

Strongly correlated quantum matter is one of the most facinating subjects in modern Physics. Despite its long history, including the famous discovery of high temperature superconductors in 1986, modern experiments keep on unraveling new puzzling phenomena, which cannot be addressed with conventional approaches of condensed matter physics. The program will focus on recent experimental developments on strongly-correlated systems such as strange/bad metals and twisted Graphene/Moiré systems.

To address these issues, new theoretical techniques going beyond conventional, perturbative treatments are needed:  exactly solvable models (such as the SYK model and its derivates, as well as other large N models), effective field theory approaches (hydrodynamics, Schwinger-Keldysh), gauge/gravity duality. Many of these tools have emerged in the past decade or so from a fruitful and intense dialogue between the condensed matter and high energy/string theory communities. As such, the participants to the program will hail from a variety of backgrounds in experimental and theoretical condensed matter as well as high energy theory.

The program will be composed of three 5-day blocks:

Program block 1: June 16 to June 20 (including Saturday 18 and Sunday 19). Talks will be every day 11am-12pm and then 2pm-3pm.

Conference block: June 22 to June 26 (including Saturday 25 and Sunday 26). We will have talks on Wednesday June 22 and Thursday June 23 from 9am to 5pm, on Friday June 24 from 9am to 12:30pm, on Saturday June 25 from 1:15pm to 5:30pm, and then on Sunday June 26 from 9am to 3:30pm.

Program block 2: June 28 to July 2 (including Saturday 2). Talks will be every day 11am-12pm and then 2pm-3pm.

Program blocks will have a max of 30 participants, with a light schedule of two talks per day, in order to foster informal discussions between participants. Participants will be able to enjoy work (open) spaces on Nordita premises.

The Conference block will have a max of 60 participants, with a busier schedule of talks.
